Where is gonadotropin releasing hormone released?
Gonadotrophin-releasing hormone is released from the hypothalamus in the brain. It controls the production of luteinising hormone and follicle stimulating hormone from the pituitary gland. Where are gonadotropins produced?
Gonadotropins are glycoprotein hormones produced by gonadotropes in the anterior pituitary, an endocrine gland located beneath the hypothalamus of the brain. Their existence was identified nearly 100 years ago by hypophysectomy, a surgical procedure in which the pituitary gland is excised, that resulted in gonadal atrophy.
