Fortesta gel is a prescription medicine that contains testosterone. Testosterone is a naturally occurring male hormone necessary for many processes in the body. Fortesta gel is used to treat conditions in men that result from a lack of natural testosterone. Fortesta will not enhance athletic performance and should not be used for this purpose.

How much testosterone does Fortesta take?

Fortesta is available in a gel at a concentration of 10 mg testosterone per pump. The starting dose of Fortesta is 40 mg (4 pumps) applied topically once daily in the morning.

Is Fortesta safe to use if you have low testosterone?

FORTESTA is used to treat adult males who have low or no testosterone due to certain medical conditions. Your healthcare provider will test your blood before you start and while you are using FORTESTA. It is not known if FORTESTA is safe or effective to treat men who have low testosterone due to aging.

What is Fortesta (testosterone)?

FORTESTA (testosterone) Gel for topical use only, is supplied in a metered-dose pump. One pump actuation delivers 10 mg of testosterone. FORTESTA is contraindicated in men with carcinoma of the breast or known or suspected carcinoma of the prostate [see Warnings and Precautions (5.1), Adverse Reactions (6.1)].

Drug Abuse and Dependence FORTESTA contains testosterone, a Schedule III controlled substance in the Controlled Substances Act. Drug abuse is intentional non-therapeutic use of a drug, even once, for its rewarding psychological and physiological effects. Abuse and misuse of testosterone are seen in male and female adults and adolescents.
