What causes male infertility?
In up to half of these couples, male infertility plays at least a partial role. Male infertility can be caused by low sperm production, abnormal sperm function or blockages that prevent the delivery of sperm. Illnesses, injuries, chronic health problems, lifestyle choices and other factors may contribute to male infertility.
How long does it take a woman to conceive?
Over 80% of couples in the general population will conceive within 1 year if the woman is aged under 40 years and they have regular (every 2–3 days) unprotected sexual intercourse. Of those who do not conceive in the first year, about half will do so in the second year (cumulative pregnancy rate over 90%).
