How much Alprostadil is in Caverject?
Each mL of CAVERJECT contains 20.5 mcg or 41.1 mcg of alprostadil depending on vial strength, 172 mg of lactose, 47 mcg of sodium citrate and 8.4 mg of benzyl alcohol.
What is Caverject chemistry?
CAVERJECT contains alprostadil a synthetic form of prostaglandin E 1 (PGE 1) and is designated chemically as (11α,13E,15S)-11,15-dihydroxy-9-oxoprost-13-en-1-oic acid. The molecular weight is 354.49.

Caverject is manufactured by Pfizer, who provide everything you need to use it safely. When using alprostadil in the form of Caverject, be sure to follow the instructions provided by your doctor carefully. Do you need a prescription for Caverject? It’s not possible to get Caverject without a prescription in the UK.
How is Caverject used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction?
CAVERJECT is indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. CAVERJECT is indicated as an adjunct to other diagnostic tests in the diagnosis of erectile dysfunction. 2. CaverJect Dosage and Administration Alprostadil is available in different strengths and presentations. Determine the most suitable dose and presentation for each patient.
How does Caverject work?
Caverject contains alprostadil which is similar to the natural substance in your body called prostaglandin E1. It widens blood vessels so that blood can flow in your penis more easily. This makes it easier for you to have an erection. Caverject is used for “erectile dysfunction” including weak erections or impotence.
Is Caverject indicated for paediatric use?
Caverject is indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in adult males due to neurogenic, vasculogenic, psychogenic or mixed aetiology. Caverject may be a useful adjunct to other diagnostic tests in the diagnosis of erectile dysfunction. Caverject is not indicated for paediatric use (see section 4.4 Benzyl alcohol).
What is in Caverject syringe?
Contents of the pack and other information The active ingredient in Caverject is alprostadil. Each vial contains 10 or 20 micrograms of alprostadil. The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, sodium citrate, α-cyclodextrine, hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide. The syringe contains benzyl alcohol (8.4 mg/ml) and water for injections.
